This week in cooking we made Tomato and Corn salsa, and good old Kiwi Dip. My Favourite was the tomato salsa because it had everything i like in it. Everyone in the group got one of the ingredients to chop up and Kama measured the spices.
Our Salsa looked like this
Tomato Corn Salsa recipe
4 tomatoes chopped roughly
1 can of corn kernals drained
1 avacado chopped
1 red onion diced
2 capsicums roughly chopped
juice of one lemon
1 t of chipole chilli powder
1 t of smoked paprika
salt and pepper to taste
Everything goes into a bowl and mix together. Serve with corn chips, pita bread cut up, brushed with oil and baked in oven until crisp. or on top of nachos.

sticky chicken lettuce wraps
On Monday our cooking group made Sticky Chicken Lettuce Wraps. They were really, really yummy and i managed to eat four lettuce wraps.
This is Blade and Joseph cooking the chicken for the wraps. We used a Honey Soy sauce.
Lochie and Kama are sitting waiting for the chicken to finish cooking, you can see what other ingredients we used. The chicken was wrapped in Lettuce, with cucumber, carrot and capsicum.
We thought that you could use any sliced meats in this recipe, and you could use onion, pineapple, corn kernals, cheese. Any sauce or dressing could be used too.
Here is our recipe, that fed 7 hungry kids for lunch
2 chicken breasts sliced
2 capsicums sliced
2 carrots grated
1 cucumber cut in quarters and then sliced.
1 lettuce, pulled apart so leaves are whole
1 pouch of honey soy cooking sauce.
a little oil for fry pan.
Heat fry pan, with a little oil. Add chicken and cook until chicken is browned and cooked through. Add the sauce to pan and stir until the sauce has become sticky around the chicken.
Serve all the ingredients separate in the middle of the table in dishes. Each person then picks up a lettuce leaf and then adds some of each of the other ingredients into the middle, fold sides of lettuce in and the wrap over like a parcel. Enjoy.

Brunner Mine Visit
On Monday my class went to the Brunner Mine site for a visit. We have been reading the book - A Mines Afire, which tells a boy Tommy story of when the mine exploded.
The photo shows Staci, Angelina and me, dressed up in clothes like they would have worn, and we pretended to be running across the bridge towards the mine. This was my favourite part of the day, the baby doll was very very strange as it had teeth.
My Spider Poem
Out of a tin we were allowed to choose a object, I chose a black plastic spider. We then had to type words to describe our object. From these words we had to create a poem. Here is mine.
prised
pointed tail
eight long skinny legs
fast spinning sticky web maker
big poisonous scary biters
shiny black body

Special Olympics and Constable Jos.
I am part of the West Coast Special Olympic team, and take part in swimming, basketball and golf.
This is my friend Constable Jos, who supports his son Alex and the team every week. I was very proud to get my 1st place certificate last week from Constable Jos when we all competed in a West Coast swimming competition. His job is to come to schools and teach us road safety in crossing roads, on our bikes and keeping ourselves safe.
Today is Constable Jos day at our school, as sadly Constable Jos is very sick. We are all wanting to show him our much we care for him and his family. Arohanui Constable Jos.
